The Lupus Foundation of Minnesota (LFM) works to provide social supports for individuals impacted by lupus throughout our service area (Minnesota and beyond). Support groups have been shown to have a positive effect on the wellness of a lupus patient. They offer avenues in which to share personal stories, educational materials and resources, and to socialize with others who understand the challenges of living with lupus.

In addition to groups facilitated by LFM staff, volunteers can receive training and resources in order to facilitate support groups in their home communities. As a result, LFM has a network of support group leaders that span a wide geographic area. These support groups provide avenues for individuals to receive vital information about the unique services and resources available to them ‘close to home’.

Support group leaders have extensive knowledge and personal experience in the impact that lupus can have on ones life and family. They provide a personal contact for individuals- some who may not know anyone else with the disease or lack reliable supports- that can mean the difference between living in isolation and not feeling alone.

LFM’s current support group listing (categorized by region) also denotes those groups that are conducted by a certified LFM Support Group Leader.
