Huge thanks for Lupus Walk for Hope and 5K Run support
A record-breaking 1,400 participants gathered in Plymouth and Rochester on September 14 and September 28 respectively to help raise funds and awareness for lupus at the annual Lupus Walk for Hope and 5K Run events. To-date the Twin Cities walk alone raised over $65,000. With the event in Rochester this past weekend, and Duluth’s event still on the horizon, slated for this Saturday, October 5, we are looking towards a banner year in the fight against lupus.
“Many smiling faces, lots of camaraderie, positive energy flowed, and everyone donned purple for lupus awareness,” said 2013 Lupus Ambassador Chris Cronick. “A huge thank you goes out to everyone who participated. I was amazed at the love and support I have felt. It’s definitely an experience I will never forget.”
We are amazed too … the generosity and support you, our sponsors and contributors have provided this year is absolutely astonishing. We want to take this opportunity to say “thank you” to our major contributors.
A big thank you to our SPONSORS, who so generously provided financial gifts or goods that directly contribute to the success of the event:
- Fortress Financial Group, LLC
- PLUS Foundation
- Elite H2O
- Grandma’s Sports Garden and Event Center
- KFAN 100.3 FM
- KOOL 101.7
- Miner’s/SuperOne Foods
- Zywiec’s Landscape and Garden Center
It takes a village to execute these events – both in planning and day-of – and we couldn’t do it without the dozens of VOLUNTEERS who contribute their time, resources, ideas and efforts so bigheartedly.
Whether you walked or ran or simply attended, came alone or with a team, have lupus or have a connection to lupus, it’s YOU, the PARTICIPANTS AND ATTENDEES that make this go! Thanks for supporting with registration fees, raising funds online and in person; and for being a part of the day that furthers awareness and fundraising!
Last, but certainly not least, thanks to our valuable DONORS! Over 700 individuals have contributed financially online and many more (yet-to-be counted) provided gifts in person at the event and through event participants. We are humbled to reach so many to raise much-needed funds for lupus research and awareness.
It’s not too late to participate. Either you can look up your friends or family who participated and contribute to their efforts or simply donate to LFM online, as fundraising sites for the Twin Cities, Rochester and Duluth will remain open through mid October. Or join us in Duluth this Saturday.
