Hit for Lupus Softball Game at UWRF
|Date:||Saturday, April 26, 2014|
|Location:||Ramer Softball Field, University of Wisconsin River Falls, River Falls|
At Ramer Softball Field, the University of Wisconsin River Falls Falcon softball team will host its fifth annual “Hit For Lupus” game as they take on the University of Wisconsin- Platteville for a doubleheader on Saturday, April 26, beginning with a 3 p.m. game. While they take on the Pioneers, the Falcons will be raising awareness and collecting donations in support of the Lupus Foundation of Minnesota. T-shirts will be sold, a 50/50 raffle conducted and additional donations will also be accepted at the game. The Falcons will don jerseys, socks and headbands of purple, instead of their school red, raising awareness for lupus. And they’ve also asked their competing team to join them in the efforts!
This tribute/awareness game was started to pay tribute to a player’s mom who has lupus. Said player has since interned at LFM and has graduated, but the Coach and team continue the tradition.
Come cheer on the Falcons as they Hit For Lupus! LFM staff will have the honors of throwing out the first pitch.
