As you know, the Lupus Foundation of Minnesota (LFM) has proudly served our community since 1999 with a legacy dating back to 1976. Our mission has driven us to provide support for those affected by lupus, as well as create greater public awareness of this debilitating disease, all in the hope that we may one day discover its cause and cure.
Today, I must share the difficult news that our organization’s journey will be coming to an end due to increasingly unsustainable economic realities that we face. In short, we have made the very difficult decision to dissolve LFM.
The Board of Directors has approved a dissolution plan. The process will likely take several months to fully complete and will include the legally required review of the plan by the office of the Minnesota Attorney General.
The plan calls for completing the process by the end of April 2017. The board hopes to transfer all remaining assets to a new 501(c)(3) organization independent of LFM. More information will become known in the coming months.
On behalf of the Board of Directors and Staff at the Lupus Foundation of Minnesota, thank you for everything you have done to support the mission of the organization. We are grateful for the dedication and generosity you’ve shared with us throughout the years.
As a person whose family is impacted by this chronic autoimmune disease, it remains my sincere hope that someday soon we will live in a world without lupus.
Chair, Board of Directors
